Why PvP keeps its own price
Farming routes get interrupted, contested zones clear slower, and a character that fights burns through potions and food far faster than one that does not. Supply comes in slower and demand runs hotter, so the market prices this bracket separately.
Where it lands against Normal and Roleplay moves from check to check; the ladder shows today's order, not a rule.
Where PvP gold goes
Consumables first and always. Every potion and every piece of food a PvP character uses is bought, not found, and it goes quickly.
Then resistance gear for the December raids, and enchants redone each time the gear changes.
PvP gold, answered
Can I have both factions on the PvP ruleset?
No. On PvP an account may only create characters for 1 faction. Make an Alliance character there and Horde is shut for you on that ruleset. Normal, Roleplay and Hardcore allow both.
This is the one detail worth checking before you order: gold travels by mail or trade inside a faction only, and on PvP there is no second character on the other side to receive it.
Can I move a PvP character to Normal later?
No. Characters stay on the ruleset they were made on, as Blizzard confirmed on September 21. The only movement announced goes the other way: a Hardcore character that dies can transfer out, and PvP is one of the places it can go.
Is PvP gold different from Normal gold?
Same coin, different economy. Play styles do not share gold, so a PvP character can only be paid in PvP gold, and the 2 prices move on their own.
