Why this bracket is usually the cheapest
More players means more farmers working the same zones and more of them chasing the same buyer. That competition is what tends to keep Normal near the top of the ladder, though the order between brackets does shift from one check to the next.
The ladder above is the only place we state a price. Paragraphs on this site never quote one, because a number in a sentence goes stale the day after it is written.
Where Normal gold goes
Riding comes first: 100 gold for the first tier of training and 1,000 for the top tier, with the mount itself included in the training.
After that it is bags, the expensive middle stretch of a profession, and from December 9 the consumables for Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair.
PvE gold, answered
Can I use PvE gold on a PvP character?
No. Each play style in Forever is its own economy, and gold does not cross between them. The coin looks the same, but a Normal coin only ever spends in the Normal world, so buy in the bracket you actually play.
Can I move my Normal character to another ruleset later?
No. Blizzard confirmed on September 21 that characters do not hop between rulesets; to play under different rules you roll a new character there.
What carries over is account-level progress: collections and Legacy Points are shared across rulesets, so perks you have earned are waiting on the new character.
Does Alliance or Horde change anything?
It changes who can hand you the gold. Mail and the trade window only work inside one faction, so the offer has to match the side your character is on. That is why every line of the ladder names a faction.
